Club outing to Wales
Boy it was wet! rain with low clouds. I must be fitter than when last in Afan cos I was having to wait for the others on the climb, it was a matter of getting the timing right of waiting long enough to have a reat but not so long as to get cold!
The first decent was a bit touch and go in places as the visablity wasn't that great, guess thats part of the fun though.
The new energy section was next great fun it was too with table tops, berms and doubles to keep you interested its only been open a few weeks so still settleing in and the first proper rain I think it was bit muddy in places. I can't wait to go back in the dry will be much more fun without the mud in the eye syndrome.
The next section was the one with the northshore it was pretty leathal in palces without the chickenwire on it I had a walk on one bit (I can barely ride it in the dry) then had to bail out on another section, I stayed on the bike but took to the heather rather than taking the corner.
One of the people I was with didn't have such a good time of it he managed to fall off and twist his knee. HJe managed to walk to the end of the section then we had to call for assistance as he wasn't able to ride. I think the rangers are getting used to picking people up now, we counted 3 other today! one of them days I think.
We spilt up some waiting with the injured party the rest of us carried on after losing some clothes as it was pretty cold for the people having to stand about.
I had to take it pretty easy on the last decent as resin brake pads grinding past (aka afan mud) don't mix I was down to the metal front and rear could feel the springs being ripped up on the discs.
Top day dispite the weather and the injury (trip to A&E nothing broken just soft tissue see GP in a week if no better)
